Callum G. Brown is professor of religious and cultural history at the University of Dundee. He is the author of eight books including Religion and Society in Twentieth-Century Britain (2006),Postmodernism for Historians (2004) and The Death of Christian Britain (2001).
W. Hamish Fraser was, until his retirement, professor of modern history at the University of Strathclyde. His publications include A History of British Trade Unionism 1700-1998 (1999) and The Coming of the Mass Market (1981), and he has also edited volumes on the histories of Glasgow and Aberdeen.
About the Author

Very Pleased

I bought this book for my History of Modern Britain class. The book is very well done, and actually starts with a historiography of England before the unification into Great Britain.
The book itself is organized in a pleasing time line fashion and does not skip around like some history text books do. The chapters are easy reads, but you will learn a lot of good broad information from 1707 up to almost present day. The book focuses on general topics such as economy, political figures, rural vs urban, and more bigger topics.
This is a great book if you want to know a little about a lot. It does not go fully in depth as some other books, but that is because it is such a long period of time to cover.
The part that i didn't like about the book was it had to few visual aids, and the pictures it did have were black and white. Sure this keeps cost down, but it also takes away from some of the readings. Its more of a personal preference, but i like to read and see what was happening and who i am reading about.

Arrived in great shape!

The book looked barely used. There was no writing in the book and the cover and pages were not bent, which is great because I do a lot of highlighting for my upper level classes.
